Vacation 2010!

We are finally back from our 3 week long vacation. We spent most of the time in Michigan visiting with family and friends, spent a day in Chicago with Ray's sister, and then the last few days in Ohio with more family. We had a great time, we were super busy, but I am happy that we got to see so many people and do so many things! Here are a few highlights and photos.
  • 15 hour car trip with the kids went really well . Even Gummy Bear was good, he didn't fuss until the last couple of hours.
  • Spent a day at the beach on Lake Michigan, which was fabulous!
  • Shopped at lots of good places, ate ate yummy restaurants.
  • Pooky went fishing with Ray's Uncle Ron. He didn't care too much for the fishing, but he enjoyed riding fast in the boat.
  • Spent the 4th of July in my hometown, enjoyed the annual parade and fireworks. LOVED it.
  • Took the Amtrak down to Chicago and stayed the night with Ray's sister, Stevie. Kids loved the train and all the tall buildings.
  • Had a wonderful girls night out with some old friends from high school.
  • Went to my family reunion, had a fun time seeing everyone.
  • Drove down to Ohio to visit more of Ray's family at their annual family lake vacation. Very relaxing, Emmy and Pooky got to spend some time with their cousin, Sophia.
  • My sister and I got to spend a day at Cedar Point, with no kids. It was awesome, even if I did get whiplash from one of the big rollercoasters. I am getting too old for those things. :)

Happy 4th of July!

We had a fun, crazy busy holiday today. My parents and sister came over for lunch and a swim. Later we went over to our friends' house for a evening cookout, then we hit our local fireworks display on the way home. Great day, we are all tired, got some pictures.

I could not get Emmy's friend to smile! But she was cute!

Pooky ate about 7 pieces of watermelon today

I LOVE fireworks!

Emmy and Daddy watching the fireworks. She was scared of them last year, but loves them now. Pooky on the other hand whimpered and hid his face in my shoulder the whole time, clutching on to me. :)

Vacation, Part 2

Well, we got back from vacation last night, and I am still very tired and recovering from a long week of doing nearly nothing.
I have oodles of pictures, but Ray has yet to put them on my computer so there will be a "Vacation Part 3" post coming very soon.
We did get to do a few things, aside from the sitting around doing nothing. Sunday through Tuesday, not much happened. On Wednesday, we stayed at the cabin and watched our neighbors light off a ginormous stack of fireworks that they claimed cost over $700 to buy. Emmy did not like the loud noises, so she ended up in the house snuggling with Ray on our bed watching the fireworks display on TV. She later informed me that the fireworks on TV were quiet, so she liked them better than the ones outside. Who needs to spend $700 on fireworks when there are better ones on TV anyway??
On Thursday we drove around for several hours in the Smokey Mountain National Forest, which is beautiful. We stopped at a swimming area along a river that ran through the mountains - it was gorgeous! I took lots of pictures of Emmy playing in the water, and off all the scenery. We later all went our for dinner, which was a nice change.
On Friday, I went out for a few hours by myself (well, I took Pook, which was no big deal) and went shopping at a nearby outlet mall. I hit nearly every children's clothing store, plus a few other places and got some deals. It was nice to be out by myself for a bit. Friday night we had an early birthday party for Emmy (who is turning 3 in a few weeks!). She loved the attention and was spoiled with presents from her grandparents and aunts.
That's it - our vacation in a nutshell. I will hopefully get some pictures up soon. Have a great week!
